Grade 4 "Metric Olympics" - Event #1 Left Handed Sponge Squeeze

WELCOME TO THE METRIC OLYMPICS!

Three teams will compete!  The Blue, The Green, and The Purple Teams

Step #1; Estimate how much water you can squeeze from a sponge using your left hand.  Record your estimate on your sheet.  Be sure the judge has recorded your estimate on their master sheet.

Step #2: Using your left hand, place the sponge in the bucket of water, then take the sponge out.
Step #3: with one squeeze, squeeze as much water out as possible into the large beaker.
Step #4: Pour the water from the the beaker into the graduated cylinder.
Step 5: Find the level of the water in the graduated cylinder and record the measurement on your record sheet.  Be sure you let the judge know the actual measurement of the volume of the liquid.

Helpful hint...It is best to be eye level with the graduated cylinder to make the most accurate measurement.

Step 6: Find the difference between your estimate and the actual amount and record that data on your record sheet.  The smallest difference wins!!!!!

 TEAM WORK!!!!
