Grade 3 - Zoo Enrichment Project...Let's go to the ZOO!

On March 14th the entire Grade 3 at School 33 Bilingual Center took the enrichments they had designed for four of the animals (Lion, Polar Bear, Mule, and Gorilla) to the Buffalo Zoo to place into each animal's habitat and observe their behavior with the enrichment.

Here are some of the exciting things that happened:

Lion Habitat

Click Here to view a video of how the Lion interacted with a student made paper mache giraffe.

AFTER:

The keeper put an extra box in the lion habitat because there were 2 lions and he didn't want them to fight over the giraffe.

 Mule Habitat

Below are pictures of the student's enrichments for the Mule habitat before the Mule was introduced to them.

Here comes the Mule.

Polar Bear Habitat

Below are pictures of the student's enrichments for the Polar Bear

(look for the blue).

Mmmmmmm frozen Gatorade!  Yummy!

Gorilla Habitat

The students made a mural on acetate to hang on the window of the Gorilla habitat.  At first they were very interested, but we were unable to capture this on film as their interest faded quickly. However, below shows the mural and the Gorillas in the habitat.
