Grades 6 - 8 students signed up in September to participate in the
national Christopher Columbus Awards competition. The competition challenges teams of 3 – 4
students to identify a community problem and use science, technology, engineering,
and math (STEM) to find an innovative solution to that problem. The goal of these teams is to become one of 8
finalist teams to compete in Orlando, Florida in Disney World for thousands of
dollars in scholarships as well as a $25,000 Columbus Foundation Community
Grant to see their project be fully implemented.
