Grade 4 Builds 3-Dimentional Topographic Maps of New York State

As grade 4 students are learning about soil erosion, weathering, and rocks in science, they have also been learning about landforms (mountains, hills, plateaus, and plains) in socials studies.  Through an interdisciplinary theme of “change”, teachers developed a learning experience that enabled students to create 3-dimensional models of New York State.

Below are some pictures of Mrs. Coyle, Ms. Rosado, and Ms. Judson’s classes as they make the dough (measuring and following directions) and build their 3-D models.

Objectives:

Measuring and Mixing

Forming the Map of New York State
